Gurukulam
‘Soul Wisdom,’ the Siddhar Way of Life, was initiated by Great Lord Muruga to the Great Sage Agathiyar himself
Great Sage Agathiyar is the primary reason for the establishment of the Siddha Academy (Gurukulam).
He imparted teachings about both the secrets of transcendence related to the ‘Supreme or Ultimate’ (Parabaram) and the hidden absolute truth to the chosen disciples with profound insights.
Lord Muruga initiated and imparted wisdom to Sage Agathiyar about spirituality, the liberation of the soul from the birth cycle, and its union with the ‘Supreme Soul’ (Paramatma), known as ‘Mukti’.
Lord Muruga also imparted detailed spiritual teachings and teachings related to liberation of the soul to Sage Agathiyar.
The Siddha Masters have been protecting the human race by liberating it from illusion, guiding them away from suffering, and showing them the paths to attain liberation from all bondage and surrender to the ‘Supreme Soul’ (Paramatma), known as ‘Moksha’.
Birth is not the end, it is a journey.
The Siddha Masters explained to people the methods to attain the Divine, emphasizing that the soul, once it leaves the body, has no further opportunity to approach the Divine.
From a Spiritual/ Siddha Master (Guru), one receives initiation and learns methods to successfully integrate the physical body, life force, mind, wisdom, and soul into a unified whole. These teachings have been thoroughly explained to humans.
To attain this stage, Siddha Masters practiced disciplines such as moral integrity, mind-focused training, silence, ‘Soul Wisdom,’ and meditation to guide humans toward fulfilling the purpose of their birth.
If, in their life journey, humans exhibit good conduct and their thoughts, words, and deeds become pure, they can attain a divine state. This statement holds true.
When practiced, ‘Ashtanga Yogam’ grants the liberation of the soul from the birth cycle and its union with the Supreme Soul (Paramatma), which is known as ‘Mukti’
(Quote by Sage Thiruvalluvar)
There are eight types of ‘Karma Yogam’ which is also known as ‘Ashtanga Yogam’. Through these practices, one attains spiritual powers (siddhi).
1. Iyamam
Cultivating good thoughts
2. Niyamam
Performing good deeds
3. Asanam
Yoga practices that help maintain the body’s health and strength.
4. Pranayamam
Disciplining and regulating the breath (inhalation and exhalation) as taught by the Spiritual/ Siddha Master (Guru) helps control the mind and strengthen the body’s organs and nerves
5. Pratiyagaram
Moderating the five senses involves controlling the mind’s response to external stimuli such as light, sound, and touch, and maintaining a state of internal perception
6. Thaaranai
Focusing the mind by releasing all thoughts without becoming entangled in them, chanting the ‘Guru Mantra’, a sacred phrase or chant imparted by a Spiritual/Siddha Master (Guru), can aid in achieving this state
7. Dhyanam
This involves steadily focusing the mind at the center of the eyebrows. Simply remain still and experience bliss
8. Samadhi
This is a state where one forgets oneself, forgets the external world, corrects one's inner self, and remains deeply immersed in bliss without any awareness of oneself for a long time. Simply remain still and experience bliss
In a person’s daily life and routine, chanting and meditation should be included. We eat for bodily growth, and we practice meditation to keep the growing body healthy. Wisdom is necessary to refine intellect. Controlling the flow of intellect can only be achieved through the practice of meditation. Meditation is also useful for disciplining and regulating the emotions that arise in the mind. Combining wisdom and meditation enables us to receive divine grace and discover our true selves. After reaching a higher state in meditation, one can realize one's soul. When wisdom is combined with the path of meditation, living a family life, and fulfilling a virtuous life, it becomes the path to liberation (Moksha).
